What can you recycle?

USED WASTE OIL
Waste oil cannot be mixed with antifreeze, solvents, kerosene, water, etc. Containers of 5 gallons or less are acceptable but must be brought to the Columbia County Recycling Facility.
TIN
Tin cans, such as food cans, can be recycled ONLY when they are clean and dry.
PLASTIC
Plastic bottles – #1 and #2 ONLY. They must be rinsed clean and caps removed. Plastic grocery/shopping bags are NOT recyclable.
PAPER
Newspapers, magazines, office paper, junk mail, clean and dry ONLY.
GLASS
Glass bottles and jars ONLY. They must be clear, brown, or green glass. They must be rinsed clean and caps removed.
NOTE: The following items are NOT recyclable: window glass, pottery, ceramics, dishes, and ovenware. These items are considered demolition items. The cost is $4.25 per 100 lbs for disposal.
ALUMINUM
ALL aluminum cans are accepted and should be clean and free of liquid. They can be crushed or uncrushed.
CARDBOARD
Corrugated, non-wax, cardboard of any type is recyclable. 
Must be clean, flattened, and wax or liners removed. Beer and soda cardboard packaging is now accepted. 
PAINT
Only water-based or latex paint is accepted. To dispose of paint properly, it must be hardened by removing the lid. You can dispose of hardened paint cans in your garbage.
